As a professional Stone Letter Carver, I carve letters and symbols into stone working from a studio in Argyll on the West coast of Scotland.
Carving is a slow process but if done mindfully, is a meditation in itself. All the letters and symbols are initially hand drawn and the design worked out on paper before being transferred to the stone. I then use a chisel and dummy to hand carve and shape the design.
I work mainly to commission creating one-off works for private individuals or public bodies and I also run workshops for adults and children.
